Important Update: Make it Happen Programme Closing to New Referrals
We would like to inform you that the funding for Make it Happen, our youth volunteering programme, will be coming to an end this May. For the next couple of months our team will be undertaking an evaluation and learning process and will be continuing to support our young people throughout the rest of their volunteering journey.
With the funding ending in May we have made the decision as of 4pm this Friday the 27th of February 2026 Make it Happen will be closed for all new referrals.
During these final months we also plan to carry out evaluation sessions delivered by an independent youth organisation with as many of the young people referred to our programme as possible.
We are looking to take all the learning from our programme to develop a proposal for the next iteration of service needs or requirements. We are hoping this will be in a collaborative format, we will be inviting our referrers and volunteer involving organisations to an event to discuss the way forward for supporting young people in East Renfrewshire. We will also be looking to reach out to the parent/carers who have referred to the programme.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that although the programme is coming to an end the Community Hub East Renfrewshire is still here to support young people who are interested in finding out more about volunteering or who require information about other services or activities. Our youth team meets once a week to review referrals. After the referral is reviewed, someone from our team will get in touch to arrange an initial chat about volunteering and the programme.
Key Points to remember when making the referral to our programme:
Consent is Key: Make sure that all referrals are made with the young person’s explicit consent. We want to ensure that the young person is comfortable and on board with being referred to our programme.
Detailed Information: When filling out the referral form, please include as much relevant information as possible. The more details we have, the better we can support the young person.
