Who’s a Kindness Buddy?
A person with a flexible approach to volunteering, willing to get involved in all sorts of activities to suit the people who need support in their community.
What would I be doing as a Kindness Buddy?
As a Kindness Buddy, you might help someone with:
- Shopping for a few weeks
- Take someone to a weekly club
- Help someone get back out into the community after a period of isolation
- Support a local carer with a much-needed regular break
- Any other support request presented to us
Some people you help may need short-term support, but others may require you for longer. Either way, we will agree this at the outset.
What skills do I need?
Kindness Buddies must be flexible, personable, patient, considerate, calm, and above all else, kind! A sense of humour is helpful too.
Where would I volunteer?
Across East Renfrewshire. Kindness Buddies should be able to travel easily, whether in their car or being confident using public transport. We’ll reimburse your travel costs.
How much time would I need?
As a Kindness Buddy, you may be actively volunteering every week for a while but then find there is a quiet spell. You may prefer to stick to one project or be happy to help across various. The choice is yours!
Is there any support and training to become a Kindness Buddy?
We provide training, and we will support you throughout your volunteering journey. This role will also require a PVG check free of charge.
The role would present an excellent opportunity to learn and develop new skills whilst providing an invaluable service across your local community.
