Volunteer Befriender
Mearns Kirk Helping Hands
As a volunteer befriender, you would be making a huge difference to the life of an older person in East Renfrewshire who is experiencing isolation and/or loneliness. As a volunteer befriender, you would spend an hour or so each week (usually the same time/day) to provide companionship. This might be at the home of the person you are matched with or to go out in the local community to a cafe or for a walk.
We match volunteer befrienders based on hobbies and interests, to ensure the likelihood that you'll have something in common with the person you are befriending. Full training and induction to the role is given, as well as ongoing support with your match.
