As a Vaccination Centre Volunteer, you’ll support East Renfrewshire Council/Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) with the safe coordination of the Vaccination Centres.
The role will focus on:
You will have a key contact at each Vaccination Centre as well as within East Renfrewshire Council.
You can travel to both sites by bus and to Giffnock station (approx. 15-minute walk). Free onsite parking is available.
The sites are open 7 days per week, but the actual days are confirmed by the NHS approx. 2 weeks in advance; this is subject to change at short notice.
It would be great if you could do a minimum of 2-3 hours a week or more.
You will receive Induction Training, ongoing support and named contact.
Short Term Opportunity
Whether you have green fingers or you’re a complete novice, Cosgrove Care have some great areas in need of some attention so the people they support can enjoy them.
The role will involve general gardening including planting, weeding and general maintenance.
Location: Rouken Glen Park, Rouken Glen Rd G46 7JL (Within YES site), Giffnock, East Renfrewshire
Minimum Age: 16
The Community Hub Digital Training Interpreter will support members of East Renfrewshire community who are learning English.
You will assist with gathering information from the initial requests to planning of the training sessions. You may also, where required, assist our digital champion volunteers during the training sessions.
Experience required: Fluent in English and one other language:
Minimum Age: 16 years old
Training and Support: All support will be carried out via email/telephone/Zoom
This opportunity would involve driving the charity’s minibus from the estate to The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns and back, helping the elderly residents on and off with their shopping.
There may also be occasional trips to other destinations on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements: Applicants must hold a driving license with D1 to be able to drive a minibus.
Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland currently have around 40 shops/ community hubs across Scotland. The shops and hubs help them raise funds to provide services to the people who need them. Every one of the stores relies on a team of volunteers to help run it and support the staff.
This is an opportunity to undertake a satisfying and rewarding role. As part of the team of volunteers, you will provide customer support, whilst working in a friendly atmosphere, providing an extremely useful and appreciated service to the Charity. The role includes: welcoming and assisting customers, customer service and sales service, stock control, sorting donations, hanging and ticketing stock and helping to keep the shop clean and tidy.

Expenses: Volunteers will get expenses monthly through bank transfer. Public transport will be paid in full and if driving then 45p per mile will be paid.
Being a Community Connector Volunteer for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of a leading health charity and make a real difference to the people we support.
The role will include:
Location: At volunteers home. You must have access to computer, phone and WIFI.
Minimum Age: 18
Training and Support: All relevant training will be provided online by Fundraising Manager such as GDPR, home volunteering and get information on Chest, Heart & Stroke.
All across the UK AbilityNet 300 volunteers support older and/or disabled people at home to offer one-to-one support with their technology, whether that’s a computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet. All Tech Volunteers receive induction, on-going training and support.
Location: Remotely from home
Minimum Age: 18
Commitment: 2 hours per month for minimum 6 months
The Mearns Kirk Helping Hands Befriending Service is aimed at people aged 65+ who are experiencing social isolation. If you have one or two hours a week to spare and would like to join a passionate team of volunteers who are helping older people make connections in their community, becoming a volunteer befriender could be the role for you!
Minimum age: 18
Cosgrove Care charity is looking for Community Volunteer Shoppers to shop for older and vulnerable people in the Giffnock, Newton Mearns, Clarkston areas of East Renfrewshire. A commitment of one shop per week on the choice of days: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays.
The charity is also looking for volunteers to help tidy up and maintain their gardens at Rouken Glen site. Flexible hours to suit volunteers’ availability and the weather!
COVID safe procedures in place for all volunteering roles.
Food Train is a community based grocery shopping service. Volunteers collect shopping list from local older people, make up their orders in the local supermarket and then deliver them back to them, putting items away if required.
Who can volunteer? Anyone over the age of 16 can volunteer with Food Train. They have variety of roles available: shoppers, delivery drivers, and delivery helpers.
Are you an experienced sewer with some spare time available?
The Market Place’s sewing volunteers will be working from home and will be supplied with all the materials necessary to create Face-mask, cushions, and other items for us to sell in Barrhead and Newton Mearns.
By volunteering at The Market Place, you help to raise funds to allow them to continue supporting the local community in East Renfrewshire.
