When you arrive, the East Renfrewshire Council will allocate you a Resettlement Worker who will work alongside you and your Host and provide more information to help you integrate.

Most of your NHS healthcare will be free.
Read a guide to NHS Scotland Services for displaced persons from Ukraine (PDF in English and Ukrainian. For Russian language click here). The guide explains how people access health care, including how to register with a GP practice, receive dental care, get eye examinations and have medications dispensed.
The health information team can also be contacted directly by displaced people from Ukraine (Interpreters Available) using the Language Line at 0800 22 44 88.

You can join one of the two informal face-to-face English Classes for Ukrainians based at the Ukrainian Culture Centre, 36 Eaglesham Road in Clarkston.
Your resettlement officer may also signpost you to the English classes available through the Adult Learning Team.
The Adult Learning Team
Adult Learning Services offer a range of learning opportunities for everyone, aged 16+. Whether you want to gain new skills or qualifications to get a new job, support your family, go to college or just build confidence, you are welcome to join one of their courses.
They are a friendly team who understand how difficult it can be to begin learning a new skill or language. The team will meet with you to find out more about you and make sure you enjoy your time with them.

Adults Learning Team also offer SQA accredited courses in partnership with local colleges as well as personal development and digital learning. They work closely with local colleges and universities to support progression to Further and Higher Education.

The Market Place
The Market Place is a local community space, café and shop used by local people, community groups and organisations.
Everyone is welcome to visit, relax, join in, or set up a group. You can always speak to our friendly team if you need information or support.
The Market Place is currently hosting English Classes for Ukrainians on Thursdays, 5-6pm in Newton Mearns.
The Market Place in Barrhead:

Volunteering
If you would like to volunteer with a local group or organisation, please look at the volunteering page, or call us on 0141 876 8555 to find out more about volunteering.
If you want to take your first steps into volunteering, The Market Place is a great place to start. You would join a friendly team of volunteers, get to know the local community, and have many opportunities to improve your English.
Community Transport East Renfrewshire is a local charity which operates in the community helping people get to medical appointments, using volunteer drivers own vehicles.
